Accessible Games Framework
Making games to play with advanced controls for use alongside accessible software and hardware, and understanding of context and player initiated workarounds.
Talking to people about their experiences
It all begins with understanding, not assumptions. By conducting interviews with young people and their families in their homes we better understood their goals and frustrations.
Having a suite of low-fidelity prototypes to test with in different school and home scenarios meant we had options to observe people in different modes of play, using hardware such as switch devices, and screen readers or voice controls.
Prototyping Solutions
To bring often overlooked voices to life it’s essential to think about what format insights need to be shared in to have the most impact. For this work a video case study not only won hearts and mind, but also showed first hand the practicalities and importance of the problems we were looking to solve.
